fewer passengers and was joined by easyJet on the
negative side of the ledger. The low-cost carrier was
down by 64.6 thousand passengers year on year. TAP
Portugal and Transavia on the other hand registered
increases.
Perhaps it is a sign of a slight recovery in the archipel-
ago’s tourism activity that the performance of the last
half of 2012 was considerably better than that of the
first six months.
Significant events and initiatives in Madeira’s airports
included:
• The new website for Madeira airports was launched
with a mobile version, not only offering all the
information a user needs, but also displaying images
of Madeira as a tourist destination, earning it a
best-site-of-the-year award from Microsoft.
• APCER Certification for Quality and Environment
was renewed in recognition of the work in mainten-
