– renounced its licences to operate at these airports.
A public tender was announced to fill the vacant spot
at Lisbon airport, the choice falling on Goldcar, a
company which also operates at Faro airport. Given
the great difficulties that the RAC market faces,
licences have not yet been granted for the open posi-
tions at the airports in Porto and Faro.
To deal with this situation, the Group has developed
concrete measures to limit the impact of unlicensed
RAC activity at the airports it operates. A RAC news-
letter, was launched, a quarterly publication, the first
issue containing information of interest to the licensees,
in particular their share of turnover at each airport
compared to their competition. It also has data on the
use of electricity, calling attention to the importance of
reducing consumption and to the sustainable develop-
ment of activity.
At Faro airport, the development plan included
a new access to the outdoor RAC area, through an
underground pedestrian walkway, which has now been
opened to the public. New RAC service counters were
installed in the arrival area of the terminal, after
the previous ones were destroyed by the storm of 24
October 2011.
