Faro airport’s development plan is expected to be
finished in 2016, providing handling capacity for 30
aircraft movements/hour and 3,000 passengers/
hour.
New management offices, and areas for administrative
services and airline companies were concluded at
Porto airport, the investments there totalling 2.5
million euros.
At Beja, approximately 1 million euros were accounted
as Other investments. This was for work on Air Base
No. 11, related to the certification process for civil
aviation use, which should occur in the first quarter of
2013.
The main investments at Azores airports were for
improvements in “air side” operational areas.
The ISTI Project – Integrated System of Telecommuni-
cations and Information – was a major investment at
Madeira airports. Begun in 2011, the project is in its
final stages. Non-refundable aid from ERDF -
European Regional Development Fund, through the
Intervir+ Programme, covers 80% of the projected
investment of 1.7 million euros, amounting to 1.4
million euros.
The item Other investments included around 9 million
euros for studies made by NAER, S.A. in relation to the
new airport.
As part of the commercial investments, the Duty-Free
area in Lisbon airport was renovated, introducing the
walk-through concept, and the first new shops opened
in a new commercial area built in terminal 1.
The commercial areas in terminal 2 were remodelled
to accommodate the new passenger profile resulting
from the transfer of easyJet’s base to that terminal,
which now handles the departures of low-cost airlines.
Car parking facilities at various airports on the mainland
were expanded, increasing the number of available
spots, the major project being the completion of work
on the P3/P4 parking garage of Porto airport.
