1.2_OBJECT AND FRAMEWORK OF ACTIVITY
The main object of the group of companies is to operate public airport services to support civil aviation in Portugal,
as well as the operation of activities and realising commercial operations that are directly or indirectly related, wholly
or partially, to the main object.
The operation of the public airport service comprises:
a) Providing services aimed at ensuring the arrival and departure of aircraft and the embarking, disembarking and
transfer of passengers, cargo and mail at the airports of Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Santa Maria, Ponta Delgada, Horta,
Flores, Madeira, Porto Santo and Beja Civilian Terminal;
b) The maintenance and development of airport infrastructure at the airports mentioned in line a) above;
c) The study, planning, construction, operation and development of new civil airport infrastructure, the develop-
ment of the work necessary to prepare and implement decisions concerning the process of planning and launch-
ing of the construction of a new airport within the territory of mainland Portugal.
Since it provides a public service, ANA, S.A. operates and manages public State assets, licensing the respective
occupation and any activities therein and charging the pertinent rates and taxes in this regard.
In its turn, ANAM, S.A. operates and manages public assets of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, licensing the
respective occupation and any activities therein and charging the pertinent rates and taxes in this regard.
1.3_CONCESSION OF PUBLIC AIRPORT SERVICES CONTRACT
1.3.1_ANA, S.A.
The concession for the provision of airport services in support of civil aviation was granted to ANA, S.A. under the
terms of Decree-Law no. 254/2012 of 28 November, following the regime established in Decree-Law no. 404/98,
of 18 December, which approved the constitution of ANA, S.A. and its corresponding responsibilities.
Object of contract
The Concession Contract for the provision of airport services signed between ANA, S.A. and the Portuguese State
on 14 December 2012 embraces the airports located in mainland Portugal (Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Beja) and in
the Autonomous Region of the Azores (Ponta Delgada, Santa Maria, Horta and Flores), and has as its object the
following activities:
a) Airport activities and services – directly provided by the concessionaire or for which it provides airport infra-
structures, particularly in relation to:
1. The availability of airport infrastructures consisting of runways, taxiways and aprons;
