which is part of a national strategy for ecological public
procurement and stipulates the integration of environ-
mental criteria for certain procurement categories,
both for the selection of bidders as well as while award-
ing contracts, as well as during the implementation of
the contract, it is important to note the practices that
have been followed during the process of evaluating
suppliers. These practices reflect the Group’s commit-
ment to disseminate to stakeholders the principles
of sustainability that it has progressively and system-
atically incorporated.
Apart from the declaration of the commitments
required from suppliers with regard to the respective
environmental performance, quality and social respon-
sibility, the specifications for contracting goods and
services include a set of requirements that reflect the
ecological rules that must be followed while providing
services.
14.3.11_Measures adopted by the company re-
lated to the principle of gender equality, according
to that which is established in no. 1 of Cabinet
Resolution no. 19/2012 of 23 February
The different indicators that prove compliance with the
Principle of Gender Equality are given in the ANA, S.A.
Sustainability Report.
On this issue, the salary policy at ANA, S.A. is founded
on the principle of non-discrimination based on gender,
with proven equilibrium between salaries of both
genders across all categories. The concept of equality
between all staff members is also applied in terms of
entitlement to parental leave.
14.3.12_Compliance with the cost reduction plan
Considering the specifics of the airport sector and the
company, ANA, S.A. agreed with its shareholders to a
5% reduction of operating costs (without amortisa-
tions) for 2012 as an alternative to the 8% reduction
previously established.
In order to offer a clearer understanding of ANA, S.A.’s
proposal for cost containment, consumption, external
supplies and services and other costs were divided into
two categories: those which are directly related to
operations and those which support operations.
ANA, S.A.’s budget for 2012 included a reduction of 8%
in operations support costs, compared to the estimated
value for 2011, with this reduction being waived for
direct operating costs. The main reasons for this waiver
are the strong growth in traffic, the increased infra-
structure areas. The main grounds for the requested
exception were primarily connected to the increase in
the areas allocated to the airport infrastructures.
A highly efficient effort was made that did not
compromise the quality of service, through which
operations support costs were reduced by 11% in
comparison with real values for 2011.
14.3.13_Compliance with the reduction in the
number of employees and management staff
As shown in Annex III of this report (annex 5 of the
instructions regarding the process of reporting
accounts for 2012), there was a reduction by 30
employees at ANA, S.A. for 2012.
14.3.14_Compliance with the provisions of article
89 of Law no. 64-A/2011, of 31 December, in
regard to the principle of unity of the State treas-
ury
ANA, S.A. requested from the competent government
entities an exemption from the application of the
principle of unity of treasury provided for in the 2011
State Budget, and has remained in the State Budget
for 2012.
